Kerrie & Don | Winter Wedding at The Brown Palace

We met in Las Vegas in May 2015 while standing in line to see the Beatles Love show…

“My daughter, Kaylee, spotted Don. She nudged me and said “Mom, look at the handsome man right behind us”! She then asked him to take our picture. He was there on a guy’s golf trip and wanted to buy us a drink after the show.

He drove from Wichita once to have dinner and play golf, but I decided I didn’t really like him. I thought he would be too boring since he was from Kansas! So I basically ignored him for over a year. But during that year, he would occasionally send me cards and hand written letters on loose-leaf paper. He finally gave up and deleted my number from his phone…although he did admit that he wrote it down on an envelope in his office

When he drove out the 2nd time, he had grown a beard and I hardly recognized him. We had a great conversation at dinner and then had more drinks by my firepit. He kept asking me what I thought of his beard and after a few cocktails I finally admitted that I did not like it! Why would he cover up those dimples!?

I knew he was the one when he let me shave off that beard

Don and his parents came to Colorado to visit some family, and I thought that was the weekend he would pop the question. We all went to the air and space museum and I thought he would do it there, but no! Then we all went to a fancy restaurant for dinner and I thought he would do it there, but no! On Sunday we played golf with some friends and on the 4th hole I hit my 2nd shot in the water. He dropped another ball for me to hit. I hit it twice and didn’t look at it until we were on the green. Then I looked at it and it said “Kerrie Kay ❤️will you marry me”? I was so excited and happy!” – Kerrie

Kerrie was referred to us by the staff at The Brown Palace Hotel – we were so honored!  Kerrie and I hit it off immediately…we had a great conversation and just had a great feeling about each other.  I was so excited we would get to shoot her wedding!

She wanted me to do her hair & makeup and of course I couldn’t say NO to this fabulous woman!  She brought all of her Bridesmaids with her to her hair & makeup trial, and we had an absolute blast!

The wedding day was no different.  We hung out while my team got the girls ready and had so much fun!  Once it was time to start shooting, all the little details started coming out… Kerrie hand-embroidered Don’s initials into a handkerchief, which was her wedding present to him (and delivered by the cutest little grand-daughter ever).  Kerrie’s necklace was on loan from their jeweler, and was a show-stopper!  Her dress, she found at the most amazing bridal shop in town, The Little White Dress, not far from our studio.  The invitations, Kerrie adorned herself, and she did all the designing for the event as well.  Of course, the flowers were done by the Brown Palace Flower Shop, and they handled the decor for the reception as well.

The entire event was absolutely beautiful!  Here are some of our favorites from the day…
