Villa Parker weddings are stunning in so many ways, and Beth & Conrad’s was no exception!
This gorgeous Colorado wedding venue looks like it came strait from the Mediterranean. With stucco arches, an expansive courtyard, and surrounding gardens, it’s absolutely amazing and photogenic. This is where we met Beth, at the Wed Wonderfully show. It was love at first sight, and she booked us on the spot! We were so excited to get to work with her. She is a woman that knows exactly what she wants, and we like that!
She and Conrad met through work and stayed in contact through social media. When their lives lead them back to each other, there was no mistaking it – these two were meant to be together. We love how Conrad looks at her, how he doesn’t seem to see anything else around him. She is happiest in his arms, and they’re adorable together (and almost sickening, ha!). They share a love of travel, whiskey, and Beth is a caring and attentive step-mom to his 4 boys, who were also his Groomsmen! Beth looked classic and absolutely stunning in her dress from Wedding Treasures. We especially loved the little caps on her shoulders, making her neckline just gorgeous.
Beth & Conrad worked with one of our favorite Denver Wedding Planners of all time – Talayna with Marilee & Grace. The details of the event were flawless, and Beth had the wedding of her dreams! The amazing talent behind Olive & Poppy and Scott of Lighting & Design by Scott made the space over-flowing with gorgeous colors, textures, and light.
Three Tomatoes Catering served dinner on the patio, family style, and Conrad’s youngest son Conor gave the most heart-felt and genuine speech we’ve ever witnessed. He was perfectly poised and well spoken…
Elite DJ‘s Cam rocked the house and they couldn’t get enough on that dance floor!
Rebecca & Jimmy wanted to do something cool for their Denver engagement session…
I loved the idea of getting to shoot their Denver engagement at night with the city lights! They were game, so we went for it!
Rebecca had her heart set on the D & F Clock Tower, so I was able to get us in there for a few minutes to take advantage of the unique space for their session. We event went all the way to the very top by the bell, 23 stories up!
After finishing there, we wandered around, snuggling in back walkways (them together, not with me, ha!), and with different backdrops and textures. Utilizing some off-camera flash, we had a blast shooting around Downtown Denver!
We can’t wait for their Denver wedding this June at the Four Seasons Hotel Denver! Enjoy more from their rad urban night-time engagement session!
“There are so many beautifully rustic Colorado wedding venues in the Rocky Mountain region.”
“Couples sometimes can’t see how options other than burlap and lace will work in a rustic Colorado wedding environment. Not every wedding should look the same. You shouldn’t have the same wedding your friend had six months ago. The elements you use in your wedding should be unique and personal to you. We want to show couples that they can blend modern elements into a rustic environment to create a cohesive look that will satisfy their contemporary eye and amaze their guests. A rustic venue can “stand up” to bling and color of modern details. They can complement each other — they don’t have to compete for attention. We want to inspire couples to think beyond what has been the “go to” rustic style and incorporate their modern tastes.” – Whitt & Co.

As a boutique-style studio, they bring an editorial magazine-worthy edginess to weddings and portrait photography.
Statice Floral Designs is a full service floral design studio that creates amazing flowers with striking colors, rich textures, lingering scents, and inspired design combine to make your wedding extraordinary. Lori is passionate about the type and quality of the flowers used in their designs and she chose soft with a pop of color and texture for this shoot. Mixing soft greens with dahlias, lamb’s ear, roses, thistles and kale, it looked fantastic against the rustic wooden and stone, and the gold vases and votives!

Linen Hero is able to work with a variety of clients to transform an ordinary room into something magical. Dotti and Kristen had a blast working with Julie on this shoot! The pinks and whites in different textures looked amazing and definitely tied everything together for a cohesive look.
While they may be a traditional French pastry shop, that does not stop La Patisserie Francaise from making custom cakes of all shapes and sizes. They chose something simple for this shoot, accompanied by traditional French pastries in pink, white, and gold.
Mindi Lindscombe, designer and owner of Something New Boutique, designed the wedding gown which is part of her 2017 collection. They are a one-stop shop in Colorado Springs offering every detail available in outfitting your wedding party. Their deepest desire is that you create memories, and that your experience is unforgettable. The modern two-piece fit our model Jacqui perfectly and we loved how it moved when she walked. The lace detail on her arms was stunning and sexy…perfect for the modern bride!
Models – (real couple) Derek & Jacqueline Pilkington rocked it! Personal items for the shoot include their wedding rings, the tuxedo and Groom’s details, and the Bride’s leather jacket. Jacqui also did her own hair & makeup!
Today would have been the 50 Year wedding anniversary for Elvis & Priscilla…
…so in honor of that, we are proud to present photos of a St. Louis wedding styled shoot we did at this year’s Shutterfest (the most kick-ass photography conference on the planet)! www.shutterfest.com
I absolutely LOVE doing styled shoots!
Putting them together helps get some creative ideas out of my head and into the camera. They let me stretch my creative legs and they give me a good chance to practice lighting and posing (so that I’m not doing that at my client’s weddings).
When I was first starting out, styled shoots helped me build my portfolio, build relationships with vendors, and helped my SEO by getting published (inbound links, woop!).
The idea for this shoot has been in my brain for several years now, and finally got the chance to make it happen for my class “Rock Your Styled Shoots”. I wanted to give my students something they could use in their own portfolios by putting together all (or most) of the elements you would see on a wedding day, in a really cool way.
We live by the phrase, “Go big, or go home!”…
Putting together a styled shoot in another city where no one knows me was a little bit challenging. I had to “sell” the idea to work with me and do it for free, and promise my vendors that it would be worth their while. It’s not an easy thing to do! Thankfully, these professionals are just that and we made it all come together – this shoot wouldn’t be half as cool if it weren’t for them, and for that I am so grateful for their help!
From invitations to a tablescape, and all the details in between, I’m stoked to present my “60’s mod” themed shoot! I love rock n roll (my daughter was named after The King), and big hair & makeup from that era.
My favorite part of putting together a shoot is the story. Johnny and Presley ran off and got married at the Court House. They’re so in love and happy to be with each other that all that other stuff didn’t matter. They then threw a reception so their friends and family could celebrate with them…
We about died when we found this design on Pinterest, and decided to use it as inspo. We tried to incorporate different things from Elvis such as the hashtag #lovemetender – the wedding website foolsrushin.com – the Sun Records label – and some of the wording throughout the invitation suite.
Gaaaah! Aren’t the gorgeous?!
I must have told them 100 times, “You guys are so cute!”
Working with professional models makes a WORLD of difference! Stephanie & Josh (a real couple to boot) were absolutely fantastic. Their communication before the shoot was spot on, always getting right back to me, and being very involved with getting the right details together on their end. Models have a reputation for being “flaky”, or unreliable. NOT the case with these two… professionalism goes a long way! Not to mention that they were absolutely ADORABLE together…
We were on a time crunch (since the first set of models never got back to me), so I didn’t have time to get Josh a suit. He happened to have his own navy suit and bought a yell0w tie to match the details of the shoot! I found the perfect little record cuff links on Etsy tying in the rock-n-roll aspect.
We listened to my Elvis playlist while getting ready for the shoot!
Stephanie’s dress came from Denver with me from one of my most favorite shops, Little White Dress. Covered in pearls and tea length, it was absolutely perfect. We added some yellow “pop” with a petticoat found on Etsy, and her shoes were found at Target for $10! Her earrings and necklace were my Grandmother’s that she got in Hawaii in the 60’s. I love how the yellow center of the plumeria works for this shoot! I also wanted to do something more authentic and different than what you see in today’s weddings (pearls or rhinestones). Her hair & makeup was done by me…big hair & big lashes…
…had they left it unattended, I might have made off with it!
I LOVE old cars, in fact I’m a total sucker for them, and try to incorporate one every chance I get. So of course I HAD to have one for this and found a white 1957 Lincoln at Motoexotica in St. Louis. My friends down there were fantastic to work with and they were so professional and excited to help us out! The car was beyond perfect and absolutely gorgeous
Being that I’m in Denver, obviously I am not able to fly with a table, chairs, etc. to St. Louis. Thankfully, I found An Affair To Remember to help with all the tablescape details. They helped me last year, so of course they were my first stop. Blakely and I brainstormed through Pinterest and came up with some really cool ideas. I loved the thought of using milk glass, and Blakely already had a ton of it, including a cake stand! The linen she chose reminds me of the velvet wall paper from the 60’s!
Speaking of cake, my new friends over at the award-winning bakery, The Sweet Divine made a perfect little cake for the shoot, which looked adorable on the milk glass cake stand! We used two little glass “birds of happiness” bought at an antique shop for the cake toppers…
Their choice in flowers made everything look so sweet and cute!!
Tying everything together flawlessly were the flowers! Artistry Florist & Event Design put together the bouquet, boutanniere, and centerpiece. Using daisies and those little round balls (don’t know what they’re called), they were beyond perfect.
I put the other details together from stuff I already had (the cute blue suitcase for cards), or found at thrift stores and antique shops, or made my me (invitations, signage).
#lovemetender – adorable right?
Even though I am ALL FOR unplugged weddings, so many couples are incorporating unique hashtags as a way to collect all those iphone photos…so why not us!?
The “guest book” vinyl was found on Etsy at American Vinyl Co., and we had the students in the class sign it (the names of the Bride & Groom are actually my kids’ names!).
Rachel & Matt’s Hawaiian destination wedding was the trip of a lifetime!
One of our awesome friend’s and colleagues invited us to join them in Hawaii to shoot her sister’s wedding on the North Shore. Amanda is one of our amazing photographers, so when she wanted us to shoot Rachel’s wedding, we were stoked and honored!
Rachel & Matt met when Amanda ran into him at a bar. He was a tall, scruffy-looking thing, freshly back in the city from a geology rock-hunting trip. Knowing her sister loves nerdy geology stuff like that, she forced her sister to meet them at the bar, and the rest is history. They’re both super laid-back people who seem to have not a care in the world.
Our home for the week was one of the houses reserved for the pro-surfers during competition season, right on the beach. We spent a week on the North Shore drinking beer, playing in the waves, and stuffing our faces with chocolate haupia pie from a local’s favorite spot, Ted’s Bakery.
The intimate ceremony was held at the Haliewa Alii State Park on the North Shore
Their friend George performed the ceremony and it was blessed with sea turtles swimming by…
Rachel’s ring held stones that Matt found on one of his gemstone hunts in the Rocky Mountains. His band was handmade by the talented Jessica Robin Thomas at Crow Jane Jewelry (she does custom pieces too)!! See more of her work here: crowjanejewelry.com
On the way back to the beach house, we stopped in the Waimea Valley Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. The lighting was AMAZING at that time of day, and the trees were magical.
(One of the best photos we took all week – Amanda & Brad – thanks for such a killer trip!)
Thanks to all the vendors that helped to make this wedding unforgettable:
