Rachel & Matt’s Hawaiian destination wedding was the trip of a lifetime!
One of our awesome friend’s and colleagues invited us to join them in Hawaii to shoot her sister’s wedding on the North Shore. Amanda is one of our amazing photographers, so when she wanted us to shoot Rachel’s wedding, we were stoked and honored!
Rachel & Matt met when Amanda ran into him at a bar. He was a tall, scruffy-looking thing, freshly back in the city from a geology rock-hunting trip. Knowing her sister loves nerdy geology stuff like that, she forced her sister to meet them at the bar, and the rest is history. They’re both super laid-back people who seem to have not a care in the world.
Our home for the week was one of the houses reserved for the pro-surfers during competition season, right on the beach. We spent a week on the North Shore drinking beer, playing in the waves, and stuffing our faces with chocolate haupia pie from a local’s favorite spot, Ted’s Bakery.
Rachel got her dress from one of our favorite shops in Denver, Little White Dress
The intimate ceremony was held at the Haliewa Alii State Park on the North Shore
Their friend George performed the ceremony and it was blessed with sea turtles swimming by…
Rachel’s ring held stones that Matt found on one of his gemstone hunts in the Rocky Mountains. His band was handmade by the talented Jessica Robin Thomas at Crow Jane Jewelry (she does custom pieces too)!! See more of her work here: crowjanejewelry.com
On the way back to the beach house, we stopped in the Waimea Valley Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. The lighting was AMAZING at that time of day, and the trees were magical.
(One of the best photos we took all week – Amanda & Brad – thanks for such a killer trip!)
